A Crash Course in Mindful Parenting

Posted by Brighton Montessori School on 03/05/10  •  Send feedback »

The school has been contacted by a fellow Montessorian about a unique opportunity for the parents of your students. It's an online course that addresses one of the greatest needs that parents have and one of the biggest challenges for Montessori schools and faculty -- parent education. See below for further information:

It is challenging to do sufficient levels of parent education that make a real impact. Even if your school is one of the few to have taken real steps to deal with this challenge, then you are probably struggling with some other common hurdles. For example, Montessori training programs do not prepare teachers to effectively educate parents, and parents are either too busy or are otherwise unable to attend parent education events when they are offered.

As a Montessori preschool teacher, I often found myself confronted with this parent education conundrum. I proceeded to develop a practical, parent education website, which aligns seamlessly with the Montessori philosophy.

This website has been so well received that I've decided to compile the best of the best into a free, 12-lesson e-course - A Crash Course in Mindful Parenting. Your parent body will love A Crash Course in Mindful Parenting because:

  • It will enable parents to tap into the "secret" child-management skills of Montessori teachers,
  • It can be utilized at the parents' convenience,
  • It can be utilized as often as is needed or desired,
  • Its comprehensiveness from the "follow the child" angle is unlike any other online resource,
  • It's absolutely free.

Registering for the course is easy and without cost or obligation.

Workshop for Polar Bear Hoods: 13th March at Larch's Workshop

Workshop for BIG BUILD: 24th April at Montessori

Everyone Invited! Funplex on Tuesday, 9 February

Dear Parents

You may have seen this on the door but, if not, nice Mum Cathy has kindly organised this fun activity:

Date: Tuesday, 9th February.
Time: 12.15
Meet up: at school gate

Going to: Funplex, The Hyde Business Park, Auckland Drive, Bevendean, BN2 4JE. According to Google maps, it will take about 12 minutes to drive there from the school.

Although it's up to parents to make their own way, Cathy has volunteered to try and arrange car sharing if anyone is without transport.

The cost is £4.50 for children over 4 and £3.50 for under 4s but we have arranged a 50p discount per child for our group, which we kindly asked it donated to the PTA. (Mum Cathy will collect this donation on your behalf). Parents and babies are free.

There is a cafe but they are relaxed about taking your own pack lunch.

Cathy and Noelle (Aidan's mum) will definitely be there so if parents/Grandparents/carers would like to come but don't know anyone else going, please come along. The children will have a blast - guaranteed! And the rest of us will have a nice time too.

Thanks again to Cathy for organising this. And - as a reminder to parents - if you haven't been able to attend PTA meetings and would like to organise any activity like this as a fundraiser, your efforts would be most welcomed and appreciated.
