Support Us

There are several ways to lend your support to our campaign.

1. Write to or email us on info@brighton-montessori.org.uk.

You may tell us why you think Montessori is a good educational method, why you think it should be available in the public sector or your own family's educational story / interest in Montessori. If you are, or will be, living in Brighton & Hove it would be particularly useful to know if you would be interested in a place at a state-funded Montessori school for your own child(ren). Proving demand for a new school is a vital part of our campaign - all emails received will be useful evidence.

If you are a teacher, Montessori or otherwise, please comment on what benefit Montessori could bring to the UK public sector, its schools and indivdual children.

Education specialists might like to comment on Montessori suitability for children with various learning difficulties or looked after children.

If you are a charity or business you may wish to comment on social justice / equal opportunities for those on lesser economic means; or differing styles of education that may engage a broader range of pupils in education for the longer term.

2. Write to or email your local MP. The Members for Brighton & Hove are as follows:

Brighton Pavilion - David Lepper MP and Brighton Kemptown - Des Turner MP can both be contacted at 179 Preston Road, Brighton, BN1 6AG.
Hove - Celia Barlow MP Unit W11, Knoll Business Centre, Hove, BN3 7GF.

Many of you live elsewhere in the country - please write to your own MP as increased awareness nationwide will be of great benefit.

3. Write to or email Brighton & Hove City Councillors and Education Directors:

David Hawker, Director of Children's Services, Brighton & Hove City Council, PO Box 2503, Kings House, Grand Avenue, Hove, BN3 2SU

Cllr. Pat Hawkes, (Chair) Children, Families and Schools Committee, Brigthon & Hove City Council, C/O Kings House, Grand Avenue, Hove, BN3 2LS.

4. Write to or email Government ministers and Opposition spokespeople, members addresses available via www.parliament.uk.

Rt. Hon. Tony Blair PM, Rt. Hon. Alan Johnson MP (Secretary of State for Education and Skills) Lord Andrew Adonis (Government Education Spokesman (Schools) in the House of Lords), David Cameron MP (Leader of the Opposition), David Willetts MP (Opposition Spokesman for Education and Skills), Sarah Teather MP (Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Education and Skills)
